A delightfully pretty clear Venetian crystal wall lantern on a gold mount, with a balotonâ finish and twisted gold wire frame, made entirely by hand on the famous glass-making island of Murano in the Venetian lagoon. In the Venetian tradition, it's very generously sized.
The hot blown-glass is stamped with a special balloton mould by the Muranese glass-master to create a raised criss-cross pattern. This is a very typical Murano glass-making design which dates back as far as the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, and is still very popular today.
This piece may bear some tiny imperfection that will attest to its having been fashioned entirely by hand, thus increasing its value and uniqueness. It is based on a historical design and has been crafted using purely traditional techniques.
